ToggleMost people who come to Kasol for the first time think the town is the destination. It is not. Kasol is the base. The real draw is the trek that starts from Barshaini and climbs 13 km through pine forest and waterfall trails to Kheerganga, where a natural hot spring sits at the edge of a mountain meadow at roughly 3050 metres. The spring is not a gimmick. After a full day of uphill walking, sitting in warm water with cold mountain air above you and nothing else around is a genuinely good experience.
The kasol kheerganga trek from delhi is classed as beginner-friendly because the trail is steady rather than technical, but do not mistake that for easy. You are covering 13 km of uphill in a single day with a pack. Comfortable shoes and basic fitness are non-negotiable. The return is the next morning, which leaves the first day in Kasol for settling in, walking along the Parvati River, and getting food at one of the cafes before the early start.
Distance from Delhi to Kasol: 520 km approx and can reach from delhi to kasol, 12 to 13 hours by overnight Volvo. Distance from Kasol to trek start at Barshaini: 20 km by shared cab or jeep.

Distance from Delhi to McLeodganj: 480 km, 10 to 11 hours by overnight Volvo bus.
Triund is not a long trek. The trail from McLeodganj to the top is 9 km each way and takes 3 to 4 hours at a steady pace. What makes it stand out is the view at the top, which is one of the cleaner Himalayan ridge views accessible to a beginner trekker in this part of India. The Dhauladhar range sits directly in front of you at the summit, and the drop on the other side into the Kangra Valley is steep enough to feel like you are actually on a proper ridge rather than a gentle hilltop.
McLeodganj itself is worth the extra time. The town has a strong Tibetan character from decades of settlement around the Dalai Lama's residence, and the cafes, monasteries, and market lanes around Bhagsu Road are worth an afternoon before the trek. Bhagsu waterfall is a short walk from town and fits easily into the first day. The mcleodganj triund trip is popular year round, but the clearest ridge views happen between October and December and again in March and April before the summer haze builds.
Day 0: Overnight bus from Delhi to McLeodganj
Day 1: Arrive by morning, Bhagsu Nag temple and waterfall, walk through Tibetan market and cafe lanes, evening rest
Day 2: Begin trek from McLeodganj to Triund, reach summit by midday or early afternoon, watch sunset over Dhauladhar, overnight camping at the top
Day 3: Morning views from the ridge, trek back down, free time in McLeodganj, board return bus to Delhi

Triund ridge with direct views of the Dhauladhar mountain range
9 km trail through oak and rhododendron forest
Overnight camping at the summit with open Himalayan skyline
Bhagsu Nag waterfall and Tibetan market in McLeodganj
Accessible beginner trek with a genuine ridge camping experience
The Manali Sissu package is built around a single engineering fact: the Atal Tunnel connects Manali to the Lahaul Valley in under an hour, bypassing the old Rohtang Pass road entirely. What this means practically is that you can reach terrain that previously required a full additional day of mountain driving, in a fraction of the time, in any weather, in any month of the year.
Sissu is a small village on the Lahaul side of the tunnel. It looks nothing like Manali. The valley is wide and open, the mountains are snow-capped year round, and the tourist crowd that fills Manali during peak season has not made it this far in the same numbers. There is a waterfall visible from the road, good viewpoints along the valley floor, and the kind of mountain silence that is increasingly hard to find in Himachal. You spend one full day in Manali for sightseeing and one day crossing into Lahaul and back. Two very different landscapes in three days without a single flight.
Distance from Delhi to Manali: 530 km, 13 to 14 hours by overnight Volvo. Distance from Manali to Sissu: 65 km through the Atal Tunnel. Route of Delhi to Sissu gives best experience.
Day 0: Board overnight Volvo from Delhi
Day 1: Arrive Manali by morning, Hidimba Temple, Old Manali cafes and lanes, Mall Road in the evening
Day 2: Drive through Atal Tunnel to Sissu, waterfall stop and valley viewpoints, drive back to Manali, Solang Valley activities on the return if time permits
Day 3: Morning free in Manali, board bus to Delhi
Distance from Delhi: 530 km to Manali, 65 km further to Sissu via Atal Tunnel
Best Time to Visit: October to March for snow views at Sissu, April to June for clear open valley
Atal Tunnel crossing into Lahaul Valley, year-round accessible
Sissu valley viewpoints and roadside waterfall
Snow-capped peaks visible from the valley floor in all seasons
Hidimba Temple forest setting and Old Manali cafe culture
Two completely different Himachal landscapes without a long detour
Jispa is what you get when you keep driving past Sissu. The road continues through Keylong, the administrative centre of Lahaul district, and follows the Bhaga River further into the valley until the settlement of Jispa appears beside the river. The drive is the point. Lahaul Valley from Manali to Jispa is one of the more visually serious road journeys you can do from Delhi without entering Ladakh. Rocky ridgelines, river bends, empty roads, and mountains that do not look like the Himachal of tourist brochures.
Jispa itself is a small collection of camps and guesthouses used mostly by Leh-bound travellers as an overnight stop. That is exactly what makes it good. The infrastructure is decent enough to be comfortable but the place has not been developed for day-trippers. Evenings are cold, the sky is clear, and the Bhaga River runs fast outside the camp. For a 3-day trip, this is one of the stronger options if your group wants distance from the usual Manali circuit.
Route from Delhi to Manali: 530 km. Distance from Manali to Jispa: 115 km via Atal Tunnel and Keylong.
Day 0: Overnight Volvo from Delhi
Day 1: Arrive Manali, Old Manali exploration, Hidimba Temple, rest and overnight stay
Day 2: Drive from Manali through Atal Tunnel, stop at Keylong, reach Jispa by afternoon, riverside camp, bonfire evening under open sky
Day 3: Morning at Jispa, drive back to Manali, board Delhi bus by evening
Distance from Delhi: 530 km to Manali, 115 km from Manali to Jispa
Best Time to Visit: June to September when all roads through Lahaul are fully open
Lahaul Valley road from Keylong to Jispa, one of the more dramatic drives in Himachal
Riverside camping on the Bhaga River at Jispa
Bonfire evenings with clear mountain night skies
Quiet atmosphere well away from Manali tourist crowds
Atal Tunnel crossing and Keylong town stop en route
There are many destinations for a 3 days trip from Delhi, ranging from peaceful hill towns and adventure treks to snow valleys and riverside escapes. Whether you are planning a quick couple getaway, a solo group trip, or a weekend with friends, destinations like Kasol, Manali, Jibhi, McLeod Ganj, Bir Billing, Chopta, Rishikesh, and Jispa offer the perfect balance of travel time and experience. With overnight departures from Delhi, you can spend less time commuting and more time exploring the mountains.
Every 3-day package we run uses the overnight bus from Delhi as Day 0. This is not a workaround. It is the reason these trips work. You sleep on the bus, arrive at the destination with the morning, and have a full day ahead of you without spending any daylight on the road.
From there, each itinerary is designed to front-load the main activity, whether that is the trek, the drive into Lahaul, or the Triund climb, and leave the final morning relaxed so you board the return without rushing. Accommodation is booked at verified properties. Internal cabs and transfers are arranged in advance. You do not need to figure anything out on the ground.
Packages cover accommodation for 2 nights, all internal transfers, selected meals, and on-ground support throughout the trip. Talk to our travel expert to confirm upcoming departure dates and customise the itinerary for your group.
Train journeys work best for travellers who prefer overnight comfort without long highway drives. Destinations like Haridwar, Dehradun, Pathankot, and Chandigarh connect well from Delhi, making onward travel to Rishikesh, McLeodganj, Bir, or Chopta easier. Train travel is also a practical option for families, couples, and budget travellers planning relaxed trips.
Overnight Volvo buses are the most popular option for Himachal trips from Delhi. Manali, Kasol, Jibhi, Dharamshala, and Bir Billing all have direct overnight bus connectivity, which saves daytime travel hours and reduces trip cost. Bus trips work especially well for group departures, solo travellers, and friend groups planning quick mountain getaways.
Flights are ideal for travellers who want to minimise travel time and focus more on the destination. Places like Srinagar, Leh, Dharamshala, and Dehradun become comfortable 4-day itineraries when combined with short flights from Delhi. Flight-based trips are usually preferred by couples, families, and travellers looking for premium customized holidays.
Road trips from Delhi give the most flexibility because you can stop at cafés, viewpoints, waterfalls, and local villages on the way. Destinations like Rishikesh, Chopta, Jibhi, and Manali are popular self-drive routes for couples and friend groups. Private car trips also allow flexible departure timing and customized sightseeing throughout the journey.
The primary trekking season for Kasol Kheerganga and McLeodganj Triund. Snow has cleared from lower trails, temperatures are manageable at altitude, and both Parvati Valley and Dharamshala are active with travellers. Manali Jispa opens from June as the Lahaul roads become fully accessible. The most popular departure window of the year.
Monsoon brings rain across Himachal but the Lahaul Valley, being in the rain shadow of the Dhauladhar range, stays relatively dry. Manali Jispa runs well in this window. Kasol can see heavy rainfall and the trek to Kheerganga becomes muddier and slower. McLeodganj Triund is accessible but the ridge views are frequently cloud-covered. Travel with buffer time for road delays if departing in July or August.
The cleanest skies of the year for McLeodganj Triund. October and November give the sharpest ridge views before winter sets in fully. Manali Sissu runs year-round because the Atal Tunnel stays open regardless of snowfall above. Kasol Kheerganga runs until November before winter camping conditions make it impractical. December to February suits experienced cold-weather campers on the Triund route.
A 3 days trip from Delhi in December is perfect for travellers looking to experience snowfall, mountain cafés, bonfire nights, and peaceful winter landscapes without taking a long vacation. Destinations like Manali, Kasol, Jibhi, Bir Billing, Chopta, and Dharamshala become especially beautiful during this season with cold weather, snow-covered peaks, and cozy stays. Couples enjoy romantic riverside cafés and scenic resorts, while friend groups prefer snow activities, road trips, and nightlife. Families can explore relaxed sightseeing and comfortable stays, and solo travellers often choose backpacker-friendly destinations with active traveller communities and winter adventure experiences near Delhi.
