Itinerary

Day-wise journey details for your 5 Nights 6 Days Leh Ladakh Trip.

Day 1

Arrive in Leh | Acclimatization 1st Day

Approx. Distance: Airport to Hotel (5–8 km)
Travel Time: 20–30 Minutes
Stay: Hotel in Leh

Your Ladakh adventure begins as you arrive at Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport (Leh). Our operations team will receive you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel for check-in. Since Leh is situated at an altitude of approximately 11,500 ft (3,500 m), the first day is dedicated to acclimatisation, allowing your body to adjust comfortably to the high altitude.

Spend the day relaxing at the hotel or take a gentle walk around Leh Market if you feel comfortable. In the evening, meet your Trip Captain and fellow travellers for a short briefing covering the upcoming itinerary, weather conditions, permits, and important travel guidelines.

Important Information

  • Airport pickup is available only during the scheduled arrival window shared before departure. Our operations team will guide you with the recommended flight timings.
  • Stay hydrated, avoid alcohol and smoking, and get adequate rest.
  • Carry your government-issued ID, medicines, chargers, and other essentials in your day backpack.
  • Avoid running or any strenuous physical activity on your first day.
Day 2

Start your first day of exploration with a delicious breakfast at the hotel before heading towards the famous attractions around Leh and Sham Valley. Visit the Hall of Fame Museum, dedicated to the brave soldiers of the Indian Army, seek blessings at Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, experience the fascinating optical illusion at Magnetic Hill, and witness the spectacular Sangam, where the Indus and Zanskar Rivers meet.

Later, visit the iconic Shanti Stupa, one of Leh's most peaceful landmarks, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the city and surrounding mountains. If time permits, spend your evening strolling through Leh Market, where you can explore local handicrafts, cafés, and traditional Ladakhi souvenirs before returning to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Important Information

  • Continue drinking plenty of water to help with acclimatisation.
  • Carry sunglasses, sunscreen, and a light jacket throughout the day.
  • Wear comfortable walking shoes.

Leh to Nubra Valley via Khardung La Pass

Approx. Distance: 125 km
Travel Time: 5–6 Hours

Pause to admire the spectacular Himalayan landscapes before descending into the beautiful Nubra Valley.

Continue to Diskit Monastery, the oldest and largest monastery in Nubra, famous for its towering 100-foot Maitreya Buddha Statue overlooking the valley. Later, explore the unique Hunder Sand Dunes, where the cold desert meets the Himalayas. Adventure lovers can enjoy an optional double-humped Bactrian camel ride or ATV ride at their own expense before checking into the campsite or hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Important Information

  • Nights in Nubra can be cold, so carry warm layers.
  • Spend limited time at Khardung La due to the high altitude.

Upon reaching the world-famous Pangong Lake, witness its crystal-clear blue waters changing shades throughout the day. Visit the iconic filming locations from 3 Idiots and Jab Tak Hai Jaan, capture unforgettable photographs, and spend a peaceful evening by the lakeside before enjoying dinner and an overnight stay.

Important Information

  • Pangong experiences sub-zero temperatures at night, even during summer.

Things to Carry

Backpack & Luggage

Carry a 50–60L backpack or duffel bag for your main luggage and a 15–20L day backpack for your daily essentials. Keep your medicines, water bottle, snacks, warm clothing, sunglasses, sunscreen, chargers, and important documents easily accessible in your day bag. It is also recommended to use waterproof covers or zip-lock bags to protect electronic devices and valuables.

Clothing

Pack clothes that can be worn in layers, as temperatures in Ladakh can change significantly between day and night. Carry a warm winter jacket, fleece, thermal wear, full-sleeve T-shirts, comfortable trekking pants, a woollen cap, gloves, and extra pairs of warm socks. If you are travelling during the monsoon season, a raincoat or poncho is also recommended, especially on the Manali route.

Footwear

Wear comfortable trekking or sports shoes with a good grip, as you'll be walking on uneven terrain and high-altitude roads. Also, carry slippers or flip-flops for use at your hotel or campsite.

Medicines

Carry all your regular prescription medicines along with a personal medical kit containing medicines for fever, cold, headache, motion sickness, stomach issues, pain relief, ORS, bandages, and antiseptic cream. Avoid taking altitude sickness medication such as Diamox without consulting your doctor.

Travel Documents

Carry an original government-issued photo ID, such as an Aadhaar Card, Passport, Driving Licence, or Voter ID. It is also advisable to keep digital copies of your important documents and travel bookings on your phone.

Travel Essentials

Pack a mobile charger, power bank, UV-protection sunglasses, sunscreen (SPF 50+ recommended), lip balm, moisturiser, reusable water bottle, quick-dry towel, tissue papers, wet wipes, hand sanitiser, and your personal toiletries. If you are carrying a camera, bring spare batteries, as cold weather can drain battery life more quickly.

Cash & Snacks

Carry sufficient cash for personal expenses, as ATMs and digital payment services may not be available in remote areas such as Pangong and Nubra Valley. Keep dry fruits, chocolates, energy bars, and biscuits with you for long travel days.

For Bike Riders

If you are joining the bike expedition, carry a valid Driving Licence and wear mandatory riding gear, including a riding jacket, knee guards, elbow guards, gloves, and sturdy riding shoes. A balaclava or neck gaiter is also recommended for protection against dust and cold winds.

Responsible Travel

Help preserve Ladakh's natural beauty by carrying a reusable water bottle and avoiding single-use plastics wherever possible. Do not litter at villages, monasteries, campsites, or viewpoints, and always respect local customs, wildlife, and the instructions provided by your Trip Captain.

Note: Weather and road conditions in Ladakh can change quickly. Before departure, the Trip Guru Go Operations Team will share the latest packing recommendations and weather updates to help you prepare for a safe and comfortable journey.
