Carry a 50–60L backpack or duffel bag for your main luggage and a 15–20L day backpack for your daily essentials. Keep your medicines, water bottle, snacks, warm clothing, sunglasses, sunscreen, chargers, and important documents easily accessible in your day bag. It is also recommended to use waterproof covers or zip-lock bags to protect electronic devices and valuables.
Pack clothes that can be worn in layers, as temperatures in Ladakh can change significantly between day and night. Carry a warm winter jacket, fleece, thermal wear, full-sleeve T-shirts, comfortable trekking pants, a woollen cap, gloves, and extra pairs of warm socks. If you are travelling during the monsoon season, a raincoat or poncho is also recommended, especially on the Manali route.
Wear comfortable trekking or sports shoes with a good grip, as you'll be walking on uneven terrain and high-altitude roads. Also, carry slippers or flip-flops for use at your hotel or campsite.
Carry all your regular prescription medicines along with a personal medical kit containing medicines for fever, cold, headache, motion sickness, stomach issues, pain relief, ORS, bandages, and antiseptic cream. Avoid taking altitude sickness medication such as Diamox without consulting your doctor.
Carry an original government-issued photo ID, such as an Aadhaar Card, Passport, Driving Licence, or Voter ID. It is also advisable to keep digital copies of your important documents and travel bookings on your phone.
Pack a mobile charger, power bank, UV-protection sunglasses, sunscreen (SPF 50+ recommended), lip balm, moisturiser, reusable water bottle, quick-dry towel, tissue papers, wet wipes, hand sanitiser, and your personal toiletries. If you are carrying a camera, bring spare batteries, as cold weather can drain battery life more quickly.
Carry sufficient cash for personal expenses, as ATMs and digital payment services may not be available in remote areas such as Pangong and Nubra Valley. Keep dry fruits, chocolates, energy bars, and biscuits with you for long travel days.
If you are joining the bike expedition, carry a valid Driving Licence and wear mandatory riding gear, including a riding jacket, knee guards, elbow guards, gloves, and sturdy riding shoes. A balaclava or neck gaiter is also recommended for protection against dust and cold winds.
Help preserve Ladakh's natural beauty by carrying a reusable water bottle and avoiding single-use plastics wherever possible. Do not litter at villages, monasteries, campsites, or viewpoints, and always respect local customs, wildlife, and the instructions provided by your Trip Captain.
